On Bastille Day, there was only one thing that was going to inspire us for this week's The TREND - Paris.
There is something unashamedly defining about the phrase "Parisian cool." The mere whispering of the two words conjures up enduring images of the slick and sophisticated, Gitanes in-hand, walking the Champs Elysees with the particular pomp that certainly wouldn't be acceptable anywhere else but the French capital. Even the way the Parisian's talk is unavoidably cool - check out our conversation with Gildas and Masaya from Maison Kitsuné for confirm on that.
It's the "cool" ethos that makes a whole host of French brands so accessible. The typically effortless style imbues your wardrobe essentials with a whole host of influences; ranging from traditional and military garb to rock'n'roll and hip hop scenes - there's a reason there are so many songs written about Paris!
This week's trend takes in the collegiate trends of A.P.C. and more recently, AMI, with Alexander Mattiussi's burgeoning brand littered with considered Americana-inspired callouts applied to a slew of carefully constructed jersey apparel and beyond. These preppy pieces are coupled with wardrobe staples such as the Officine Generale New Fisherman English Twill Chino and a pair of Zespa ZSP4's, which create a canvas for the statement pieces to shine like the Louvre at night.
