Housed on a quiet street in Tufnell Park, Norman's Café offers a celebration of Great British café culture with quality produce and traditional favourites.
Puma’s MMQ line stands as a testament to the brand’s dedication to crafting product built to withstand the rigours of daily life, delivered in an aesthetic primed for regular wear. Standing for “Macht’s mit Qualität”, the German phrase translates to “Made with Quality” – an idiom and motto that rings true of both Puma’s output and Norman’s Café in Tufnell Park.
Founded by Elliott Kaye and Richie Hayes in 2020, the duo have found fame with their simple, authentic, and honest take on the Great British café, or the affectionately known “Greasy Spoon”. Delivering classic dishes with high-quality ingredients, the unfussy menu that Norman’s Café offers takes us back to simpler times, when “brunch” was a thing of the future and a hearty cooked breakfast fuelled people from all walks of life.
“We love the vibe, the sense of community and the affordability,” comments Elliott – a testament to the embedded nature of the traditional café in British culture. With backgrounds in fine dining, the business partners sought to retrace their steps back to the homely and comforting nature of the local café – an essential and often forgotten part of British culinary history. Returning to their roots, Kaye and Hayes have left their distinctive mark on modern food, delivering a retro aesthetic sensibility that maintains an authenticity and keeps kitsch at arm’s length.
Bringing simple but satisfying food to the people, Norman’s menu offers classic dishes that will be familiar to most, if not all – channelling a collective memory and deep-rooted nostalgia. From beans on toast and bacon sandwiches to sausage, chips & beans and battered fish rolls, the eatery champions cuisine that celebrates tradition and quality produce. Fulfilling their decision to deliver iconic dishes, Norman’s Café succeed in their no-frills approach to traditional dining - “we just wanted to cook the food we grew up eating and wanted to share this with others.” An honest and frank approach, Norman’s continues to celebrate something that retains a place in all of our hearts: a good, old-fashioned breakfast.
