John Elliott makes his debut at END. - now online

The American designer aims to elevate your wardrobe essentials.

Designer John Elliott submitted his first sketches to Nike at just eight years of age, for him, founding an apparel company was always a question of when, not if. His namesake brand was founded in 2012 and continues to crafts functional pieces with unequivocal quality and exceptional fits from unique fabrics this season.

Taking inspiration from seminal moments in sports history, as well as his avid love of the casual end of the fashion spectrum, Elliott's AW17 collection - his first at END. - sees a number of his signature styles highlight the San Francisco-born designer's unnerving attention to form and detail.

The most significant piece from John Elliott's array of wardrobe staples is the ingenious Villian Hooded Pullover. Inspired by a YouTube video of 1990s San Francisco 49ers quarterback Joe Montana stuffing his hands into his hand warmer after being hit by the New York Giants defence and getting up again, the distinctive hoody has a concealed kangaroo pocket to the front, whilst side-zip seams add an extra layer of fit and comfort to the normally unassuming sweater.

Equally as recognisable are the Escobar Slim Sweat Pant, itself the pinnacle of weekend comfort. The seemingly simple sweat pants are inspired by an ESPN documentary about the two Escobars; Pablo, the drug kingpin who pumped money into a whole host of Colombia’s football ventures, and Andrés, one of Columbia's finest football players who was murdered, reportedly as a punishment for scoring an own goal in the 1994 Fifa World Cup.

These unique and memorable influences add a whole new level of detail to a range of garments that are expertly crafted from some of the finest premium cotton around, making them the most essential of essentials to ever grace your wardrobe.
